President and CEO

Christopher Hyams

As a fourth-generation business owner, Chris Hyams knows what it takes to help ensure that his company’s clients, employees and sub-contractors stay happy. How? By making sure to treat everyone he encounters on the job with the same level of respect.

Chris started working at G. S. & S. Construction at the age of 15, pulling nails and pushing brooms. Working for the company through spring and summer breaks led him to being exposed to every aspect of the business. While working his way up the ranks, Chris studied construction management at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University). He completed his last nine hours of college credits while working full time as a carpenter at G. S. & S., and was a member of the Carpenters’ Union for nearly ten years.

In 1999, Chris moved out of the field and into the office, taking over the operations of the company. Today, he serves as the face of G. S. & S. Construction focusing on business development and engaging with new clients.

Chris is married with two kids. His hobbies include duck hunting and clay target shooting. He serves as president of the Board of Directors for the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance, which helps to preserve Missouri’s Big River Floodplains and Wetlands. Additionally, Chris is a past Board of Governors member of the Missouri Athletic Club and current Chairman of the club’s Rod & Gun Club. He is also active with the Boy Scouts of America.

President, Construction

Christopher Hastings

Chris Hastings has been in the construction industry for over 20 years, starting work with his father’s company at 16. He’s been with us at G. S. & S. Construction since March 2016, serving as our President of Construction.

His day-to-day job entails quoting, scheduling, coordinating and managing project budgets, as well as site estimation. He also wears a business development hat, helping us onboard new clients.

Chris loves the fact that no two days are ever the same in his job. Our clients appreciate his ready availability, reliability and transparency with budgets and project timing.

In his spare time, Chris hits the golf course as much as possible. His family also enjoys camping in their RV at our beautiful state parks.

Ryan Hill

Ryan Hill has been involved in the commercial construction industry since 2007, serving in roles ranging from project manager to executive management.

His day-to-day responsibilities include daily interface with his on-site superintendents, estimating, scheduling, management of budgets & project costs, organization of meetings with the Owner, Architect, and subcontractors, documenting progress photos, submittals, RFI’s, ASI’s, etc.
Ryan very much values his relationships with the client, as well as the design team and subcontractors.

In his free time, Ryan enjoys playing golf, and organizing social outings with family & friends. He also loves to go on vacations with his family.

Greg Bauer

Greg Bauer started working at G. S. & S. Construction in 1990 when he was just 20, driving a truck delivering materials. Over the years he took on more responsibilities, eventually focusing on the safety aspect of the construction industry.

At the time, the company didn’t have a formal safety manual, so Greg undertook the effort of creating one for us, from scratch.

Today, he directs safety operations as well as job logistics, helping determine who or what needs to be where and when. He’s been described as Radar from the show M*A*S*H – if it needs to get done, tell Greg, and it gets done.

Greg enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter on family game nights and around the dinner table, where no phones are allowed!

Linda Howard

Linda Howard has been crunching numbers for 40 years, and she’s been our accounting pro at G. S. & S. Construction since 2005.

She manages all the facets of our office. In her role, Linda’s main goal is to get our customers paid as quickly as possible because we always want to ensure that our customers are happy.

Linda’s an avid volleyball player and has played the game since she was in high school. In fact, she still plays in a women’s recreational league.

Jordan Shockley, an integral part of G.S. & S. Construction's team, focused on delivering high-quality commercial construction projects in St. Louis.
Sr. Project Manager / Sr. Estimator

Jordan Shockley

Jordan Shockley joined our team as an intern in 2019 and transitioned to a full-time project manager role in 2020. Recently promoted to Senior Project Manager, Jordan brings valuable experience and dedication to his expanded responsibilities.

Before joining G. S. & S. Construction, he spent three years as a construction laborer, which sparked his interest in the industry.

In his current role, Jordan is responsible for assisting with the planning, budgeting, and scheduling of projects. He is always ready to lend a hand and support the team around the office.

Jordan’s favorite part of the job is visiting worksites and connecting with project supervisors and field workers.

An avid outdoorsman, Jordan enjoys fishing and golfing on weekends and seizes any opportunity to get outside.

Project Manager / Estimator

John Hill

John Hill has been working in the field since 2006, gaining extensive experience as both a carpenter and a superintendent.

John’s responsibilities include bidding, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

The highlight of John’s day is visiting job sites to monitor progress and collaborate with field personnel, ensuring our clients receive top-quality results.

In his spare time, John enjoys playing hockey and coaching his daughter’s hockey team. He also loves spending time with family and friends at Lake of the Ozarks.

Project Manager

Adam Van

Adam Van joined the G. S. & S. Construction team in 2022 as a Project Manager. After 22 years in the industry, he recently went back to school to study construction management.

Adam’s responsibilities include assisting clients, working with subcontractors, and staying in communication between all parties involved with the projects.

Adam’s days all look a bit different, but he can often be found meeting with the owners and site superintendents, checking up on materials, and ensuring G. S. & S. Construction delivers a professional finished product.

Outside of work, Adam enjoys spending time with his family, shopping for antiques, and watching his kids play sports.

Director, Field Operations

Derrick Fallert

Derrick Fallert joined the G. S. & S. Construction team in June 2021 and serves as our Director of Field Operations. Derrick comes to this role with 20+ years in the industry, in which he’s been in the Carpenters’ Union since 1998 and was a site superintendent for 17 years.

Derrick’s responsibilities include managing all staffing across our job sites, overseeing day-to-day field work and ensuring any questions from the crews get answered.

A typical day can include visiting our job sites, coordinating job starts, and traveling all over the greater St. Louis area. Derrick loves the variety that comes with this role and enjoys talking with the staff on each site.

When he’s not on the job, Derrick enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.

Administrative Assistant

Jeanne Kvesic

Jeanne joined the G. S. & S. Construction team in August of 2022 as an Office Assistant.

Jeanne has been wearing many hats on the office side of the construction industry and came to this role with over 12 years of experience in the industry.

Jeanne’s responsibilities include just about any clerical tasks our office needs to get done. A typical day can involve accounting, invoicing, and whatever else comes her way. Jeanne enjoys keeping the office on track with Linda and ensures everyone is paid and taken care of.

When she’s not keeping the office running, Jeanne enjoys spending time with her family.
